A message from Principal Dzurick, March 16, 2020

Dear Families of CGBMS Students,

I want to take a minute to clarify some information that will hopefully help you on the home front as we enter the world of virtual learning.  Things are changing faster than we can get communication out, so you will probably be seeing a lot of it moving forward and I appreciate your attention to the details!

  • *Tuesday, March 17-School cancelled for students, staff will report for virtual  instructional planning.
  • *Wednesday, March 18-Staff planning for virtual instruction, no students
  • *Thursday,March 19-Students expected to connect with their teachers virtually to be sure they have the access necessary for their success with virtual learning.
  • *Friday, March 20-Staff planning for virtual instruction, no students
  • *Monday, March 23-March 27-Spring Break-no virtual learning
  • *Monday, March 30-Friday, April 3-Students begin virtual learning from home. Teachers and students are expected to complete work virtually between the hours of 9 am-3pm.  Students who do not do this will be marked absent by their teachers. If you have restrictions that force your child to work outside of this time frame during the day, please let your child's teachers know.

*The last notice given by the governor is that school would resume Monday, April 6, but we will keep our families informed of any changes.  If school should be shut down for longer, we will continue with virtual learning.

Email:  Your child's school email has been activated.  They are able to use it to communicate with any of their teachers.  Ms. Smittkamp and I will also be available if anyone needs us.

Chromebook and Materials Pick Up: We put something out on Infinite Campus and our Facebook page before school was cancelled for tomorrow, so we do need to change those times for anyone that needs to come to school to collect their chromebook and other classroom materials.

The office will be open on Tuesday, March 17 from 7:00 am-8:15am and 9:15 am-4:00 pm.

Google Classroom:  I am confident that our middle school students will be successful with virtual learning as they have been using google classroom in their classes all year.  The following is a link for parents to understand more about google classroom.

Tech Support:  If you have any issues with your child's chromebook while we are doing virtual learning, we will be hosting tech hours in the HS library.  Those days and times are yet to be determined, but we will share them out as soon as we have them.

Lunch:  The food services team is working on options to provide lunch for those who would like or need it.  Again, with as quick as things have changed, we do not have specific details, but will send them out to our families as soon as we have them.

This is a challenging and unfamiliar territory for all of us.  We need to support and help each other along the way.  If you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and your child's teachers!

My email is: kdzurick@cgbrockets.com
We will send additional information and resources as we have them.

Take care and be safe!
Kelly Dzurick, Principal CGBMS
